LONDON, UK- Membership at the UK's largest cycling organization, CTC (Cyclists' Touring Club), has hit a 50 year high. According to CTC, the increase is a culmination of a successful five-year strategic management plan that has reinvigorated the organization and made it ready to meet the needs of UK cyclists in the 21st Century.
Founded in 1878, CTC now boasts 50,020 members. This is the organization's largest membership since 1951, when it was 53,363.
The increase in membership will provide the resources to create a higher level of service to members and more influence to campaign on behalf of cyclists for improved facilities on and offroad.
"I am delighted to announce that we have met our millennium target one month ahead of schedule," says CTC director Kevin Mayne. "Now more than ever before CTC has something to offer every type of cyclist." (JW)
