DAYTON, Ohio- Huffy Bicycle shipped a record 801,568 bicycles in October, up 10% from the previous record month and up 27% from the prior October.
In a statement released 3 December, Huffy Corporation said its recently acquired internet bicycle supplier unit, American Sports Design, also reported that third quarter sales rose 44% from a year ago.
Chris W. Snyder, president and general manager of Huffy, stated that the company "has recently completed the reconfiguration of its delivery systems to customers which operated smoothly and efficiently in the peak shipping month of October. Having an improved delivery system in place now will facilitate the delivery of spring orders which have begun to ship from our suppliers."
On 27 September Huffy announced it would stop making bicycles domestically because of competition from China and that it might sell all or part of those assets to boost its fledgling stock price. (TK)
