TAIPEI, Taiwan--This year's earthquakes will not harm Taiwan's economical growth, according to a recent release by the German press agency dpa. The statement says that the economic growth in 2000 will exceed the 5.5% increase recorded in 1999.
Taiwan's economic counsel in Taipei forecasts an overall economic increase of 6.1%. This positive forecast is rooted mainly in the national (re)construction boom as well as in the rising national requests for consumer goods. (JB)
