SAN JOSE, CA/USA (30 March 2000)--US bicycle suspension supplier RockShox has announced that it will reduce its workforce and relocate and consolidate its two corporate offices to a yet-undisclosed location in the western United States. The offices in San Jose and Santa Cruz, California, will be relocated under one roof at a location to be determined in April. The company's sales, marketing, research and development, information technology, finance and human resources departments are slated to be relocated this summer. It is the firm's intention to have all operations consolidated within the next two years. RockShox's manufacturing facility will remain at its current location in San Jose, but industry observers say that a move for that operation is also likely, given the high cost of manufacturing in Silicon Valley.
"The current location of our company does not lend itself well to the economic and lifestyle needs of our employees and our business," said Bryan Kelln, chief executive officer. RockShox will eliminate approximately 10% of its indirect workforce, or about 20 positions with the company. (WJ)
