WICKEDE, Germany – Humpert GmbH & Co. KG have acquired the name and logo of traditional handlebar maker and former competitor Friko from the insolvent’s estate. The Friko brand name was first deposited in 1929 by Fritz Koerdt Metallwaren-Fabrik, equally in Wickede.

Humpert is contemplating which products could be marketed under the old/new Friko name, and will decide in the course of this year if they will use it altogether. Humpert will await Eurobike and Ifma to explore the possibilities for a third ‘Friko’ product line next to their existing X-TAS-Y (mountainbike) and X-ACT (city bike) product lines.

Humpert has already taken over Friko’s market share in order to, quote their press release, ‘prevent its loss to Asian competitors’.
