DEN BOSCH, The Netherlands – Joost van der Wegen (photo) is the new commercial manager of Edco Engineering. Van der Wegen has been active in the bicycle market for many years. For a period of thirteen years Van der Wegen was in charge of Trek in the Benelux. Recently he was involved in launching the Willex bicycle bags.
Edco Engineering was founded in Switzerland in 1867 and started producing bicycleparts in 1902 such as valves for racing tyres that are still used today. Dutch engineer Rob van Hoek took over the company some years ago and developed a series of high end road, MTB and track wheels.
Engineering and design
Edco is part of the Total Support Group (TSG), a succesful engineering and design group in Eindhoven. TSG is involved in projects and assignments for ASML, Philips, Bosch and VDL and many others. TSG played an important role in the development of the current Edco collection, like the Multisys body, developed by Edco fits which fits Campagnolo, Shimano and Sram. The carbon rims with ceramic brake surface guarantee perfect braking even under wet conditions.
