Xpace Industrial and the leading Swiss sporting goods company Stockli announced at this year’s Taipei International Cycle Show their joint venture for creating, “The leading composite 29-er frame of ultra low weight; superior ‘feel’ and unrivaled durability.”
That’s a mouth-full, but the complete M-sized Xpace - Stockli frame weighs 860 grams; has a stiffness to weight ratio of 105 Nm/degree kg and is of course DIN and CEN approved. The 29-er features some very interesting new characteristics.
Like the Xpace patented Super Smooth Wall technology (SSW). Xpace claims it’s a new inner mould curing technology that covers not just small sections, but the complete monocoque frame.offering wrinkle free, bagless curing possible at higher temperatures and pressures than the normal nylon bag process.
Xpace & Stockli 29-er full composite frame comes with a 30 Gpa and 40 Gpa modulus fiber blend. It features advanced layup designs to reach performance targets and has a 3K Kevlar DT impact protection panel co-cured into the structure. The 860 grams 29-er frame has ultra slim seat stays and full carbon dropouts and disc mounts.
