AMERSFOORT, Netherlands (February 4) - Next to Euretco with its 'Profile' shop formula, also Dutch retail organisation 'Bike Totaal' is looking for an expansion into Belgium. The possibilities to start in the Dutch speaking part of Belgium are currently under review. To seize up the interest from Belgian IBDs as well as Belgian suppliers, 'Bike Totaal' exhibited during the Expo-Velo which was held earlier this month in Brussels.
According to first analyses, Bike Totaal's current program of services for IBDs also fits - with minor changes - the Belgian market. "With discussions during the Expo-Velo we wanted to establish if there's a serious interest among the Belgian IBDs. In Flanders there are about 50 bike retailers which according to the scale of their businesses could fit a retail organisation like ours. However, we are not the only ones targeting the Belgian IBDs at the moment," said Bike Totaal MD Gertjo Janssen. He continued: "After the Expo-Velo we will decide how to proceed further on our plans. But one thing will surely contribute to the interest of the Belgian IBDs and that is that we are able to offer them Raleigh as an exclusive brand."
In case Bike Totaal decides not to start in Belgium; the retail organization will discuss the possibilities of a re-introduction of the Raleigh brand in Belgium with licensee-holder Lanco.
