BRUSSELS, Belgium – At last Thursday’s Smart2Wheels event the Dutch Cycling Embassy was kicked off by Roelof Wittink. This embassy is all about sharing knowledge from the world’s number one cycling country of all aspects that go with facilitating cycling as the most modern, efficient and sustainable means of transportation.

Below is a Dutch Cycling Embassy film showing all aspects on cycling as the most modern, efficient and sustainable means of transportation.

Roelof Wittink, also know from the ‘Interface for Cycling Expertise ICE’, is heading the Dutch Cycling Embassy. It is a comprehensive network of private companies; traffic and infrastructure consultants as well as manufacturers; NGO’s universities and research institutions; national and local governments.

The Dutch Cycling Embassy is financed by public as well as private funds. Its aim is to make a business from advising cities how to change from a car to a bicycle society; to change the attitude of its population towards using bicycles for short trips instead of cars. For that the Embassy can put city governments in touch with its extensive Dutch network. Currently the Embassy is working on bike projects in the African towns of Nairobi and Cape Town.
