ENNEPETAL, Germany - Vice president Alexander Thun (photo) decided to leave the German bicycle component maker Alfred Thun GmbH & Co. KG and to look for new challenges outside the bicycle business. For nearly three years Alexander Thun has been actively involved in the family business.
“After studying hotel management and working in China and Dubai I entered our family business almost three years ago. Ever since, I received valuable input within our industry also through your experience and ideas; input that I am very grateful for. Now, I decided to look for new challenges. As a lecturer for hotel management at my former campus in Switzerland I will deal with aspects of management on an academic level. I took this decision with full approval of my family; even though my parents would certainly have preferred a different result.” is noted by Alexander Thun in a letter to colleagues and business friends.
Staff restructuring
Alexander Thun’s departure as vice president is followed by a staff restructuring inside the Ennepetal-based company. Starting this April Jörn Rüschenschmidt is responsible for national and international sales. Rüschenschmidt was formerly the team leader for strategic sales planning and organization at the Siemens AG - Sector Industry. Janine Heumann will remain the contact concerning marketing & PR.
Moreover, Alfred Thun decided to form new sales teams: “Our sales staff will act as two-person teams. Every sales rep is assigned to one internal sales representative. We will guarantee fast transactions with our customers and short communication and decision processes. These teams are set up regionally.”
Sales regions
Mario Stauber and Anja Bräutigam is the responsible team for sales regions Nordic, Eastern Europe and America. Christoph Beckemeier and Brigitte vom Ort are responsible for sales in Benelux, Western Europe and Asia. Uwe Schmidt and Christoph Hesterberg take care about the German speaking market (Austria/Germany/Switzerland). Holger Payk is team leader of the sales office. Waldemar Fischer supports the Benelux sales duo mentioned above and is also taking care of various sales activities.
