WALDSASSEN, Germany – Since its takeover by Europe’s biggest in bikes - Accell Group NV - in March 2008 Ghost-Bikes GmbH has been expanding globally. Such ambitions seem to pay off as Ghost Bikes is adding a new building to its existing headquarters in Waldsassen, Germany.
The new three-storeyed building will be constructed on a 60x60 meter site which is adjacent to the existing 60x90 meter HQ. Both buildings will be connected by two tunnels. A ground-breaking ceremony for the new building took place recently.
Benefits of the new building
“Further growth, the need for faster deliveries, a digital warehouse management system, outstanding energy efficiency, modern design, and a showroom are all eminent benefits on which we are aiming with the new building”, states Ghost Bikes co-founder and co-GM Klaus Möhwald.
25,000 bikes ready to be shipped
Next to offices and a warehouse Ghost Bikes’ HQ houses production which is also being extended. Like the wheel production on the ground floor which is being extended from two to three assembly lines. At other sections on the ground floor as well as the first floor and at the entire second floor the new building will be offering storage facilities for up to 25,000 ready to be shipped complete bicycles.
Ghost’s 20th anniversary
The new building is planned to be finalized in 2013 – the year the company is celebrating its 20th anniversary. To be more precise: Ghost is planning to move into the new building at the end of 2012 and start production immediately. Klaus Möhwald and his team are excited to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary at the expanded Ghost HQ.
