Jack Wolfskin Founder Creates New Company

BIELEFELD, Germany--Ulrich Dausien, founder and former owner of the German outdoor company Jack Wolfskin and current owner of Sine (outdoor retail chain), McTrek (outdoor discount chain), Our Planet (outdoor wholesaler) and a 35% shareholder in the bicycle retailer, mail-order and e-tailer Bicycles Räder AG, has created a new company named Abacus AG. According to Axel Böse, president of Bicycles Räder, Abacus AG will be located at the Bicycles Räder headquarters in Bielefeld and will function as the umbrella company for Sine, McTrek, Our Plant and Bicycle Räder AG. Ulrich Dausien and his silent partner control a 99% interest in Abacus. With a personal capital of DEM4 million, Abacus is looking to expand its outdoor and bicycle businesses. Going public is an eventual option to finance such expansion. (JB)
