LAGUNA BEACH, CA/USA (26 January 2000)--The organizers of the Interbike
International Bicycle Expo have announced a major floorplan change. For the 2000 show in Las Vegas, Nevada, Interbike will open the entire west wall of the Sands Convention Center and provide the space beyond it in Hall D to exhibiting companies. The move adds 58,000 square feet of exhibition space, allowing all the companies previously located on the Street Level to join the main hall. An additional entrance will be opened to give better access to Hall D and provide enhanced traffic flow throughout the entire hall.
This is the latest move by Interbike to enhance the show, which, unlike the situation in Europe, has the unquestioned support of the entire US bike industry. Other recent changes include reduced floor space rates, drayage subsidies and an enhanced advocacy position.
"We've made a good start toward a prosperous future for the entire
bicycle industry, but we're not done yet," said Lance Camisasca, Interbike
Show Director. Camisasca adds that the announcement that the Miller Freeman Business Group, which includes the Interbike Show, was for sale will have little impact on the show.
Last year Interbike attracted 900 exhibiting companies and 3,900 retail stores from around the world. The next Expo will be held from 24 to 27 September in Las Vegas. (JW)
