SHANGHAI, China – At the Shanghai New International Expo Centre everything is set for the opening of the 22th edition of the China Cycle Show next week; Thursday April 26th. For this year’s event everything has been lined-up properly to make the Shanghai Show easy accessible for international vendors. What they will see and who they will meet are in particular e-bikes and e-scooters; these are the main exhibitors as well as lots of vendors of e-bike component suppliers.
In the past years the character of this event was slowly but steadily changing. For many years, the China Int’l Bicycle & Motor Fair has been the sourcing show for companies looking for bicycles as well as P&A in the low to mid-end price ranges. However the continued growth of the Chinese economy and an increased spending power for the average Chinese, the (huge) domestic bike market is now also attracting bike companies from Europe and the US that are looking for a foothold in China.
New export opportunities
Without doubt more Chinese e-bike manufacturers than before are on the look-out for contacts with interesting new business partners from Europe, the US and South America. These continents are seen as emerging markets for e-bikes while demand for e-bikes on the local Chinese market is under pressure. Only twelve years ago the first e-Bikes hit the streets of the bigger Chinese cities and today sales have surged to 25 – 30 million units annually. In this huge but slowly decreasing market a growing number of Chinese manufacturers are looking for export opportunities.
The 22th edition of the China Int’l Bicycle & Motor Fair 2012 takes place from April 26 – 29. For more information: www.e-chinacycle.com.
