TAICHUNG, Taiwan - How many hotels are there in Taichung? It looks like the Taichung Bike Weeks organizers need lots of them in the future years to house all the buyers, product managers and exhibitors. Since the mini-shows, held every year in November – December, are taking place under the Taichung Bike Week banner, the event is getting bigger and bigger by the year.

See exhibitors list at the bottom of this page.

The number of exhibitors for this year’s event will increase by over 75% to more than 120. The growing importance of the Taichung Bike Week is illustrated by the ongoing integration of all the others industry events taking place early December.

Ride-On integration

Even Ride-On, usually taking place in the outskirts of the city, decided this year to move to downtown Taichung. The new location for Ride-On is the Hotel One, located nearby the other Taichung Bike Week hotels. Only on opening day of Ride-On, November 30, this event will use the Nan Shan Center location; in particular for their Taiwan Day, which is completely dedicated to Chinese and Taiwanese visitiors.

The Taichung Bike Week 2011 will take place from November 29 to December 2 and will be the linking event between Ride On which will take place from November 30 to December 3 and SRAM’s Taiwanathon. SRAM will have a room in the Tempus hotel during the Taichung Bike Week. The parts maker is also organizing meetings at its factory in Taichung between November 26 and December 6.

Since 2008 Taichung Bike Week strives to provide product managers with the perfect environment in which they can utilize their time in Taichung and perform their duties with maximum efficiency. The Taichung Bike Week 2011 main hotels will be the Evergreen Hotel, Tempus Hotel in downtown Taichung and the Taichung One Hotel for Ride On. A convenient shuttle bus links all the major hotels during the event.

Product managers planning meetings are advised to check with the companies listed as exhibitors on this page, for the correct timing of their visit. Also, for visitors that have to limit their stay in Taichung it is advised to attend the presentations in the three hotels. To find out more regarding which companies are at which hotels check the exhibitor’s listings on this page.

Evening Program

To secure a successful evening program, Taichung Bike Week organizers Steve Fenton and Katerina Rejchrtova have arranged a dedicated bar in the Splendor Hotel. This sports bar will be fitted with large screen TV’s, imported European beers and ciders, hot food all at pub prices. Each night visitors can win free drinks by presenting their business card on entry. The bar will open the day before the event starts on November 28th and run for 5 nights to make sure that no one misses it.

The dedicated Taichung Bike Week bar is set up by Steve Fenton because: “All the usual watering holes have been closed due to new City Government regulations. It spurred me on to try and get something in place for all those thirsty visitors we will see descend onto Taichung very soon for Taichung Bike Week. As you will know I am not the most politically correct person and this topic has been something of a political hot potato recently. So after much thought I decided to avoid any problems with the powers that be and lets use what we have available and create our own pub that doesn't break any rules.”

Bike routes

As last year there will be bike routes marked out allowing riders to enjoy some amazing riding on great roads only 5kilometers from the city centre. There are four routes which all connect to each other and the map is available for download from the website. The route is well-marked and proved very popular with foreign riders who had never experienced riding in Taiwan before. At the Taichung Bike Week website (www.taichung-bike-week.com) there’s more on hotel accommodations or flights at discounted rates.
