SHANGHAI, China – Electric bicycles were the main theme at the China Cycle Show that closed its doors last Sunday. It was a record breaking show for the number of exhibitors and a floorspace of 120,000 square meters. However, as for business it turned out to be not the best one ever.
Main topic at the show were the anti-dumping duties for China made bikes exported to Europe which are under review as initiated by the European Commission. The general feeling among exhibitors was that after twenty years they will be dropped.
Productwise the 2012 China Cycle Show didn’t present major new technologies. Mini sized hub motors and high performance batteries that come with a three year warranty were the most interesting new products on show. More on the China Cycle Show 2012 will be in Bike Europe’s May edition.
