Dutch Bicycle Group Restructures
SCHIEDAM, the Netherlands – Last May the mid-size manufacturer Dutch Bicycle Group was acquired by Hypo Group. Part of this acquisition was a restructuring including the layoff of six people.
Recently the reorganization of the sales department was implemented. Business Sales Director Stephan Räkers is now handling all sales of Dutch Bicycle Group (DBG).
Amidst a declining market in the Netherlands, the results of DBG dropped and CEO Hennie van Rijswijk sold his company last spring. According to his successor CEO Rhody Udo the DBG organization was too big to be successful. “The layoffs were already announced shortly after the take-over and included staff at after sales and administration departments,” said Udo.
Rental and sales
In the new strategy of Hypo Group, DBG will focus on two main activities. First, the production and sales of bicycles and second bike rental schemes, both at home and abroad. Therefore in the next phase of the restructuring DBG will be divided into two separate companies.
