MUNICH, Germany (15 May 2000)–For the first time in its history, BMW sold more than 200,000 cars globally in the first quarter. In fact, the 309,203 BMW products (cars, bikes and motorcycles) sold in the first quarter was a record in itself, up 6.6% over the same period last year. The company attributes the fantastic growth increases in South Africa (+34%), Spain (+30%), the US (+17%), France (+13%) and Austria (+12%). (JW)
