LONDON, UK (22 August 2000) — Foot Locker Sportswear saw its European sales increase 32% in the first half of 2000. The company attributes some of the growth to a number of new outlets, but the majority was booked through existing stores. Since 1997 Foot Locker Europe has expanded the number of outlets from 15 to 291. During this period sales have risen 90%. Foot Locker’s biggest presence is in Germany with 87 stores, followed by Italy with 53. The sporting goods retailer says it plans to expand the number of stores in Italy to 100 by 2001, while the number of new stores planned for the UK is between 40 and 60. (OB)
