TOKYO, Japan (24 January) – Honda president Hiroyuki Yoshino announced that Honda will import cheap motorcycles for the Japanese home market from its own manufacturing plants in India and China. Consumer price of these motorcycles will be under US$850, there is a substantial market for these in Japan and apparently the nr. 1 motorcycle manufacturer in the world has full confidence in the quality of its overseas production. This move must be seen as a breakthrough in Japanese vehicle policy. (SH)
