MONTEBELLUNA, Italy, (2 January) – Lotto sport (shoes and apparel) announced a 14% growth in 1999, when the company was taken over after management problems. Worldwide sales of Lotto products for the year 2000 will be approximately Lit 360 billion (US$ 168 million;EUR 186 million), divided over soccer 34%, tennis 26%, running, training & fitness 23% and leisure 17%. For the running soccer season Lotto has a sponsorship contract with Juventus (Torino), with the immediate result of a 85% increase in soccer wear, notably the Juventus replicas. The Company’s firm objective is to become one of the top three brands in every country where lotto is distributed, and the leading Italian brand. Expansion projects focus on Asia and North America.
