NUNSPEET, Netherlands (13 February) – Specific types of stems are being recalled by Profile. The recall concerns Stiffy MTB stems with the name Profile, and those with a two-bolt clamp located on the head of the stem, as well as stems that have a 45 degree bevel on the fastening clamp of the stem. This bevel is located under the fastening clamp. The stems which do not conform to Profile’s own quality specifications, have broken in a number of incidents. Consumers who have bought these stems from 1997 onwards, can exchange these for new Stiffy three-bolt stems at their dealer. Stiffy stems which do not have the Profile logo, those with three-bolts instead of two, Stiffy ROAD stems, and stems without a 45 degree beveling are not affected by the recall.
