KLOSTERS, Switzerland (April 23) – K2 Bikes is pulling out of the German market. According to Mark Landsaat, European technical manager and contact person for all K2 Bikes distributors in Europe, the distribution ship from Switzerland to Germany didn’t work. “Switzerland is not a member of the EU and exporting bicycles from Switzerland to Germany is too expensive,” he said to Bike Europe. Nevertheless Landsaat points out that the actual decision does not mean that K2 Bikes is leaving the German market forever. “The fact is that we are still searching for a good distributor. As long as we have no distributor, we won’t offer K2 Bikes on the German market”, He stated. Until than the Dutchman is again responsible for K2 Bikes customers in Germany, he will soon be with K2 in USA. Last year K2 Sports AG, the Swiss distributor of the US sporting goods giant, took over the German distribution ship on a temporary base. Before Bike Action, last distributor of K2 Bikes in Germany, gave up and concentrated its activities on its Canadian import brands Rocky Mountain and Race Face. (JB)
