LONDON, UK (August 28) – The outdoor sporting goods and bicycle selling adventure sports internet platform 9feet.com will close its doors on 15 September unless it finds a new investor. At the time of writing the in France, UK and Germany operating B2C-supplier was already negotiating with several interested parties. In Germany for example one of the big three B2C-platforms with successful stationary sporting goods and outdoor equipment businesses (Karstadt, Sport Scheck, Globetrotter) might take over the assets of 9feet.com in Munich/Germany.
According to 9feet.com headquarters in London the investors behind this
young dot.com company experienced serious losses in other business
areas. Therefore they were no longer willing to invest in young companies like 9feet.com. One of the investors of 9feet.com is William Baird, owner of the outdoor brands Lowe Alpine and Tenson.
9feet.com MD Stephan Sheridan stated, “We are clearly very disappointed by this turn of events. Unlike many online retailers we have run a tight ship – building a European business, operating at a low burn rate and generating strong revenues while reducing customer acquisition costs. However, over the next few weeks I shall be doing my utmost to secure the future for what is obviously a useful business”.(JB)
