TAIPEI, Taiwan (April 10) – After some ten years of legal actions at several Taiwan courts Dahon succeeded finally in getting five of its former employees in prison for five months. In this extensive Intellectual Property criminal case the Taiwan Superior Court judged the former employees guilty in its verdict on the ongoing illegal use of Dahon’s advanced folding bike knowledge. More or less than a decade ago, these five employees left Dahon altogether to found new Taiwanese folding bicycle manufacturer Neobike at Taipei. President of Dahon California, Inc. Dr. David Dahon, appeared relieved on the judgement and commented: “Today we have over 40 engineers and technicians in our R&D department and this court verdict gives us faith to continue investing in this part of our business.” In accordance with Taiwan law, Dahon may now pursue damages against Neobike in a civil case and is examining its options. One of them is to swallow Neobike after demanding large sums of damage money among others. “Technology is the life blood of our bicycle industry”, Dahon concluded. (FN)
