HOOGSTRATEN, Belgium (July 9) – Renowned rim manufacturer Alesa Belgium, who filed for bankruptcy last May, will be brought back to life. Together with German rim maker Schuermann the former Alesa management decided to re-use its know how and experience in the making of rims. They founded Exal NV in 50/50 ownership, which started from 7 July from its new location at Belgian municipality Hoogstraten. Former Alesa-president Gust van der Kerken said: “We have to start from scratch as our former owner Rigida took over our equipment after bankruptcy.” The fresh Exal company will produce either the Schuermann range or the former Alesa rim program at the German rim maker. Van der Kerken said he needs 3-6 months to rebuild the company and visit new and old customers. The partners and management are former Alesa directors Gust van der Kerken, Jan Fret and Frank Luyten. From the Schuermann side Walter Goldbecker and Angelika Hunger Schlesier, Carsten Moeller and Mark Krauspe are in charge to lead the rim combination to new heights. (FN)
