DUARTE, CA, USA (August 2) – Dahon CalIfornia Inc. reported a 30% gross revenue boost during the first half of 2002. The growth came from increased revenues from patent licensing as well as bike sales. Dahon President Dr. David Dahon stated: “2002 has been a very difficult year for the bicycle industry, but our healthy growth shows us that the underlying demand for folding bikes is accelerating.”
Dahon’s committed patent enforcement program in Japan and elsewhere contributed substantially to the 30% growth in revenues. The company’s focused action against patent violators has resulted in many companies paying patent royalties to Dahon. In fact some distributors selected Dahon as its supplier after having bought patent-infringed bikes. During the first half of 2002 Dahon also experienced strong growth in sales of mid to high end folding bikes in all of its major markets.
“With better weather in Europe and the global economy poised for an upswing, we are looking forward to an even better 2003,” commented Dr. David Dahon. (FN)
