BREDA, The Netherlands (March 18) – Dutch bike retail organisation Euretco Tweewielers BV has taken over Veloring VDG MbH and Veloring Benelux BV. The Veloring takeover provides Euretco an entry to the German market where Veloring currently operates with about 270 member/dealers. Next to the access to Germany, Euretco is also almost doubling its number of affiliated IBDs in the Netherlands and Belgium with the Veloring takeover. It also constitutes a substantial growth for Euretco’s annual turnover.
The takeover, which was already heavily rumoured during last week’s Amsterdam ‘FietsRAI’ Show, was officially finalized today. With the 155 Veloring member/dealers in the Netherlands and Belgium and the 270 in Germany, Euretco increases its membership to a total of 725 affiliated bike retailers. The Veloring takeover will mean a substantial increase for the annual turnover of Euretco Tweewielers. Veloring members in Germany and the Benelux purchased for a total of about € 30 million in 2002 through their retail organization while the 300 members of Euretco Tweewielers BV purchased last year for about € 81 million via their Breda based organization. Euretco, having a centralized order payment service for its members, will overtake the payments of Veloring Benelux on short notice. For Veloring Germany the integration of its payment system in the Euretco organization will take somewhat longer, but it is certain to follow.
According to Eurectco Tweewielers MD Ron te Riele there are no redundancies involved in the takeover. “Veloring Benelux and its staff will be integrated in Euretco Tweewielers in the Netherlands. In Germany, we will operate as an independent daughter of Euretco Tweewielers. MD Ad Roest will continue to lead Veloring VDG mbH and will manage the roll out of our shop formula which will be called in Germany ‘Profile, der FahrradSpezialist’.”
The Veloring takeover fits within the international expansion plans of Euretco Tweewielers BV which is looking to market its Profile formula throughout Europe. the Dutch retail organisation recently started a daughter company in the UK where the first Profile shops will be opened this year.(JO)
