CLEVELAND, US ( November 3rd) – Cyclists take action after radio disc-jockeys encouraged car drivers to try and hurt bike riders. The US’ largest radio group Clear Channel is under heavy pressure from cyclists in the station’s broadcast area. Some discjockeys have been heard to ‘advise’ car drivers to throw bottles at cyclists, brake hard just in front of them, hit them with open car doors, blast horns etc. Reason for stimulating this crazy kind of violence were the discjockeys traffic-aggravations, in his view he was being held up by cyclists. More than 5000 e-mails have been sent to the stations’ controllers by angry cyclists, and some people went as far as to sell their stock in Clear Channel, like Mrs. Nance from Raleigh (the town, not the bike brand…) (MH) source: AP
