TAIPEI, Taiwan (February 10) – In the beginning of January the south China city of Shenzhen unexpectedly announced a new bicycle exhibition for early March. Sources in Taiwan say Taiwanese manufacturers are helping the Chinese government organize the event, which is located just across the border from Hong Kong and ends just three days before the Taipei show begins. No one is certain right now exactly what it will have to offer, but many from Taiwan are curious and will be there scouting.
The show is called the 2004 Shenzhen Bicycle and Exercise Equipment Exhibition, and it will be held in the Shenzhen Hi-Tech Fair from March 5 to 7. The Taipei Show begins on March 10. The Shenzhen Show will occupy 18,000 square meters of hall space and include 500 booths and more than 100 exhibitors, with some of them from the UK, US, and Korea. Product categories include complete bicycles, frames, forks, bicycle components, exercise machines, and there will be a special area highlighting national Chinese and world bicycle brands. (DF)
