MAARSSEN, Germany (April 2) – For those of us who want one but do not have the money there is some good news: Mercedes is again trying its hand at the bike market. After the adventurous attempt to sell electrically assisted bike made by Sachs some years ago, Mercedes is now offering fitness bikes via its dealerships. Advertised as a cross between an MTB and a road bike (known to the rest of us as a hybrid…) the bikes should appeal to those in need of some exercise. Compared to a four-wheeled Mercedes the bikes are going cheap: €1336 a piece. The trend for car-companies to offer bikes is continuing, whether bike buyers will want to source their steed from a car showroom is another matter. (MH)
