MAARSSEN, Netherlands (May 25) – Shimano has today announced the replacement for the LX gruppo – with delivery dates of early September – 2004! While ‘the jungle drums’ are still beating on delivery shortages, this new group is said to be on time according to a Shimano Europe spokesman. A September ’04 date would make it possible not only to show bikes equipped with this group, but to actually deliver them somewhere around the Fall-show season. This would be a nice extra selling point for preferred bike manufacturers. Let’s hope that it all comes together as planned. Features include Hollowtech II technology which incorporates the crank set and BB optimizing power transfer, Dual control levers that are suitable for either V-brakes or hydraulic disc brakes and offer same-direction shifting on the right hand and the left hand units. The disc brakes have two opposed pistons, ensuring better braking control.(MH)
