MAARSSEN, Netherlands – We reported earlier on the soaring figures of Taiwanese bike exporters – but now it seems we had some of the figures wrong. Not that the trend is not there, in force, just some small slip-ups in the actual number of bikes exported to various countries. We stated that Taiwanese bike exports were to the EU 15 – of course that should be the EU-25. Also, the number of bikes that were shipped to Germany is a bit less than we wrote: not 625.000 units but just 320.980. For the rest the trend is clear: Taiwan is doing very well in supplying high(er) end product to all EU member states. The average price has climbed to € 277.65 for Giant ,over the first 11 months of 2004 – some 27.6% higher than the previous year.
