OSAKA, Japan (Feb 22) – In contrast to the 2004 market conditions, especially in Europe, Shimano’s financial figures present big increases in revenues as well as net profit. The Japanese component maker saw its total turnover increase by about € 190 million to a total of € 1.25 billion which stands for a 17.8% plus. Revenues from the production and sales of bicycle components increased even more; with 21.4% to over € 955 million. Bicycle components accounted for 76% of Shimano’s total 2004 sales. The net profit (after tax) totalled € 144 million which was up 58.5% compared to 2003. (JO)
