TEL AVIV, Israel (Oct 12) – 110,000 Israeli households are expected to buy bicycles by Yom Kippur on Wednesday. The average price of a bicycle is NIS 600 (€ 108), according to a survey.
Some 39% of buyers are expected to pay up to NIS 400 (€ 72) for a new bicycle, 24% plan to spend NIS 400-1,000;(€ 72 – € 180) and 9% will treat themselves and spend over NIS 1,000.
At least one family member in every fifth Israeli household is expected to ride a bicycle, usually children.
The turnover of Israel’s bicycle sector is NIS 230 million (€ 41 million) a year, and is rising.
