OSAKA, Japan – A shop that rents bicycles at train stations has gained popularity among company workers and students who commute to places that are a fair distance to walk, but too close to travel to by car.

Bicycle renting has spread by word of mouth due to the relatively low charge of 2,000 yen a month, and there are currently 67 rental shops in Osaka Prefecture, including some operated by local governments.
