Dahon Books Record Sales in 2006

DUARTE, USA – Dahon, the world leader in portable bicycles, announced that sales revenues for the year 2006 grew 32%, even while unit sales were relatively flat at 290,000 bicycles sold over the same period. Sales revenues grew for three reasons. First, a maturing portable bicycle market is seeing Dahon customers ‘move up the chain’ and the company is selling more bikes at the mid and higher end. Second, Dahon booked substantial revenues from patent licensing. Third, Dahon is now offering frame sales as part of its Dahon License Technology program.
“We are seeing an ongoing ground swell of support for green transport solutions throughout the world,” stated Dr. David Hon, Dahon President. “Every year we are seeing new government initiatives supporting green mobility in our cities and a gradual but welcome turnaround in government policy to recognize the environment is in need of some care and attention. More people are making the choice to use their car less, take public transport or just get on a bike. It is a wonderful time to be in an industry where every product sold is going towards lessening impacts on the environment.”
