Edco taken over

TAIPEI, Taiwan – The Swiss bicycle component maker Edco has been taken over from Sapim by two Dutch cycling enthusiast; Tim Van De Laak and Rob Van Hoek who have founded a new company called Edco Engineering. Both Dutchman are already involved in a company called Total Support Engineering. Based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands this company with 90 employees is working for numerous clients in developing machines and designing products.
Edco Engineering’s main focus is to establish the Edco brand in particular at the professional road racing scene. Sapim previously developed the high-end ‘Super G’ hub, in collaboration with Gilbert Cattoir, a mechanic of the Predictor-Lotto-Team. According to Tim Van De Laak and Rob Van Hoek this is an example of how Edco Engineering wants to continue; with super hi-end hubs. Also with a constant redevelopment of their hubs, Edco engineering is targeting to be on the absolute top in the market within 4 years. To accomplish this, Edco has become the main distributor for the Benelux for Ceramic Speed from Denmark, producer of ceramic hubs. Next to hubs for road racing bikes, Edco also has hubs with or without discs, for MTB, DH and wheelchairs. All components are produced in Switzerland and assembled in The Netherlands.
