Velo Introducing Globe Suspension System

CHAVENAGO di BRIANZA, Italy – At this year’s Taipei International Cycle Show Velo will introduce its latest innovation in saddles: the Globe Suspension System (GSS). Main feature of the patented new series of saddles is, what Velo calls, the ‘Omnidirectional Pneumatic Suspension’.

The world’s biggest saddle maker has called its new saddle series the Globe Suspension System because of its shape, which is reflected in the word Globe. Suspension: because of its ability to absorb shocks and vibrations, next to a considerable weight reduction when compared with other suspension saddles. And system because GSS combines different solutions or parts: a rail, a pneumatic absorption elastomer, the shape, the dimension and the material quality the elastomer is made of.

Technical solutions
The Globe Suspension System is according to Velo based on three technical solutions:
• The Omnidirectional Pneumatic Suspension (OPS) which enables vibration and shock absorption during cycling. Thanks to a special and patented connection between the elastomer unit and the rail, the  suspension offers a more effective vibration absorption compared to other ‘suspension saddles’. Thanks to OPS, the Globe Suspension System is also completely different from classical solutions with coil spring suspension, which can only absorb shocks produced in a specific direction. Vibration absorption from any direction was one of the main goals for Velo when developing OPS.
• OPS offers the possibility of adjusting the suspension to specific needs and bike models. The elastomer material used can be differentiated to several absorption and stiffness levels according to the uses and needs that a saddle has to satisfy at Trekking, City, Mountainbike etc…
•  The new series of saddles also feature Easy Swing. This means that the saddles allow the natural movement of the rider hips during cycling and with that reducing tension on the back and the hips area of the rider. The saddle becomes a part of the rider’s body by adjusting itself to his movements during cycling.
Next to these characteristics, the weight of a GSS saddle is considerably lower compared to other saddles with high absorption abilities that usually are also big in terms of dimensions. With these characteristic the Global Suspension System can, next to Trekking and Tour, also be used for Road and MTB saddles.
Currently Velo offers three GSS models: VL 1296, VL 3132 and the VL 3136.
