SIEGEN, Germany – The receiver handling the insolvency of the German bike maker Enik Fahrradwerk GmbH, started May 1 procedures that will lead to the bankruptcy of the company. On 27 April all 66 employees of the company were informed about: “The missing prospects to continue Enik.”

Currently receiver Dr. Bruno M. Kübler is discussing the sale of Enik that used to produce annually about 100,000 bicycles. The Cologne based lawyer Kübler stated when Enik asked for insolvency March 14, that production would continue. However, after rechecking Enik’s books, he came to a different conclusion: “Our recheck came to the result that the company was already in such deep trouble when asking for insolvency that a further continuation of the business would make no sense.”

What will happen to Enik’s sister company, the wholesaler CB Campus Bike GmbH located in Bruchsal, is not yet clear. The insolvency of this company is handled by the Mannheim court that appointed lawyer Thomas Kind located in Achern as receiver. (JB)
