Dutch Batavus Steps Up Production

HEERENVEEN, the Netherlands – The Dutch bicycle market has high expectations for the coming season. One of the leading manufacturers, Batavus is reporting a stepped up production as: “A substantial number of orders, together with a highly appreciated 2009 program by our dealers prompted us to step up the production to meet demand”, says a spokesman of Batavus.

“On top of that we have managed to maintain our 2008 price levels thanks to attractive deals with our suppliers. The price level of our top selling model, the Batavus Weekend, will be the same as last year, at € 799,-.”

The spokesman attributed the success of Batavus to the dealers’ appreciation and the quality of the final product. Moreover several governments’ institutes in Holland promote the use of the bicycle. Together this brings Batavus an increase in revenues and good expectations for the coming months. To meet demand, Batavus will already switch to its peak production levels at the end of this month, much earlier than normal.
