TAICHUNG, Taiwan – To match the growing demand for e-Bikes in Europe, manufacturer Giant has raised its e-Bike production capacity by no less than twenty percent with an increase in production volume from 400,000 to 500,000 units since last year.

Giant states that the battery used in e-Bikes is getting more and more sophisticated. Though the current lithium cell battery can last for a long time, it has also made the electric bicycles relatively expensive for the local market.

As a result, Giant has put its focus for this segment mainly on Europe. It is marketing the lithium-cell-battery-equipped e-Bikes primarily to the European market, which are expected to take a 10% market share. Giant will continue to invest in key technical improvements and to cut e-bike prices in general.

Earlier this year Bike Europe reported about Giant’s introduction of an e-Scooter at the Shanghai Cycle Show. For a full report on this new product launch, click here.
