Microvast Enters E-Bike Battery Market

Microvast used the 2010 China Int’l Bicycle & Motor Fair to introduce its company and products to the bicycle industry. Microvast Power Systems Co., Ltd. was founded in 2006 and is fully owned by Microvast, Inc. located in Houston, USA. The company produces and distributes Li-ion cells, battery modules, and power systems for a variety of applications.

Their factory is located in Huzhou, China. Microvast provides on-board electrical power supply system (EPSS) for electric bus or vehicle applications. This EPSS is based on Microvast proprietary technologies and is patented worldwide. Microvast’s EPSS technology has leveraged the characteristics of both capacitor and battery and can extend the battery life significantly.

“Although we use this Chinese show as our launch in the bike industry, Europe is of course our main target area”, said Hank Song, Marketing Manager of Microvast. “The Chinese e-Bike market is still dominated by lead batteries making it very difficult for us, like any other lithium ion battery manufacturer to compete. The European market is far more interesting. All our batteries can be provided tailor made to meet our customer’s requirements.” Microvast offers a range of batteries for e-bikes in the range of 9-15 Ah as well as 24-36 Volts.
