TAIPEI, Taiwan – Today the JD Group, maker of the TranzX PST e-bike components as well as complete electric bikes, launched its bottom bracket drive system. The brushless and geared central motor integrates into the bottom bracket presenting a lower center of gravity and with that easier handling. The new motor weighs 4.1 kgs and can accommodate up to three chain rings, expanding manufacturer options to sporty e-bikes.

The central positioning of the motor also offers the possibility to use internal hub gears as well as hub dynamos. For the new bottom bracket motor JD developed a new bottom bracket sensor. A torque and speed sensor are integrated into a BB unit. The torque sensor measures the rider’s pedal force directly at the axle. The BB sensor doesn’t require any additional frame modifications and enables bike makers to use conventional frames.

With the Sportive Bike en World Bike JD Group also added two new e-bikes  to its range today. The Sportive Bike is a 26 inched wheeled Mountainbike equipped with JD’s new central motor. This is combined with a central battery solution that keeps the weight focus low and central.

The new electric bracket drive system and the new complete bikes are for MY 2012. In August the JD Group will present samples and prototypes to be used for display at Eurobike.
