Supply of Standard Frames Suited for Electronic Shifting Expanding

As electronic shifting is widening its range to the upper mid-price levels, as with Shimano’s Ultegra Di2, the supply of standard made frames for road racers with such shifting systems is expanding.

Frame maker Sunny Crown Ent. Co. Ltd. from Kaohsiung, Taiwan is one of the frame makers at this year’s Taipei Cycle Show that displayed a number of carbon frames specially made for Shimano’s Di2. They come with specially shaped headsets for the internal wiring of the shifting system while also other parts of the frame are specially shaped for the integration of the parts of the Di2 e-shifting system.

Currently, most such frames are designed for integration of Shimano’s Di2 systems of the Ultegra and DuraAce groupsets. However, nowadays there’s more. Campagnolo has launched its EPS (Electronic Power Shift) system for their Record and Super-Records groups. And it will not stop at Shimano and Campagnolo. Nor will it stop at DuraAce and Ultegra levels.

Others will follow including other categories like MTB and City/Trekking. By the way, the first City/Trekking bike with electronic – automatic shifting was also at this year’s Taipei Cycle Show. JD Group, well know for its TranzX PST e-bikes drive trains, launched its auto-shifting system (which can also be operated manually).
