Heinzmann Developed Downtube Battery for MTBs
SCHÖNAU, Germany – Heinzmann has expanded their product portfolio of e-bike drives with several components for the DirectPower System. First, there is the new downtube battery which is specifically designed for mountain bikes, but will work on trekking bikes as well.
The new battery has a capacity of 530 Wh and is therefore suited for long, casual trips, but also suited for extensive off-road action by providing the necessary power requirements in all situations. It fits into the DirectPower System Ecosystem which also provides customers using the rear rack battery, the means to switch to this new battery.
The battery will be available starting January 2014 to OEM and sales partners.
The second new component is the strong 500 W hub motor, also part of the DirectPower System as it can be powered and controlled by the same components as the current 250 W motors. The motor fits in a regular dropout, thus, not requiring any specific frame design and is available as rear wheel option only. The new motor will be available starting October 2013.
Last but not least, Heinzmann made the DirectPower System available as retrofit kit to their sales partners. The kit consists of all necessary components of the Ecosystem.
