Sparta focuses its E-Speed on, “Those for which 25 km/h is too slow.” The Accell Group subsidiary that specializes in e-bikes and that kicked-off the e-bike trend in Holland which is now flowing over to other countries, is focusing on daily commuters as well as students that have to cover 20 kilometers to or from work or school.

E-bike with big motor

Interesting on Sparta’s E-Speed is that it is nothing like a small scaled e-scooter or e-moped and is also not comparable to all the e-MTB highlights of Eurobike. What Sparta presented is a more or less regular e-bike with a big motor in the rear wheel. That motor brings 28Nm torque to the tarmac for the 40 km/h top speed.

No helmet is needed in Holland riding Sparta’s E-Speed. However, a license plate is. Sparta presented at its show a detailed ‘roadmap’ for dealers how to obtain such licenses and plates as this is ‘uncharted territory’ for many bike dealers. Sparta’s E-Speed is retail priced at € 2,599.
