Wayel Relocated E-Bike Production Back to Italy
BOLOGNA, Italy – E-bike manufacturer Wayel relocated the production from Shanghai to a new factory based in Bolgona. In 2008 Wayel started the assembly of the Italian developed and designed e-bikes in China.
Wayel, part of the Termal Group founded the new company named ‘Five’ to run the factory. The factory of Five, a shortcut of Fabbrica Italiana Veicoli Elettrici – Italian Factory of Electric Vehicles, will measure 7,100 square meters. The Zero Energy Building is earthquake-proof and one of the first projects in Italy which combines energy efficiency, industrial production and ecology.
The factory will have a production capacity of 35,000 electric vehicles per year, equal to 3.5% of the current European market, and creates 39 jobs. It will not only assemble the Wayel e-bike range but also start with the production of Solingo. This is the first solar-powered motorbike developed in cooperation with Rinnova scrl, a research company owned by the University of Bologna.
