New MIFA Factory Attracts More Investors
SANGERHAUSEN, Germany – The construction of a new bicycle manufacturing site by MIFA in Germany, which is about to commence, attracts new partners. “We are currently examining the possibility to invest in Sangerhausen,” says Erhard Büchel, managing director of MD of Büchel & Co. and Vice President of the industry associations CONEBI.
Büchel is one of the long term suppliers of MIFA. “As producer of parts and components for the bicycle industry we regard it a major advantage to be close to our customers,” said Erhard Büchel this week in a report in the newspaper ‘Mitteldeutsche Zeitung’ referring to the developments at MIFA.
Erhard Büchel refers to, “Investments amounting up to four or five million euro and the creation of over 20 new jobs,” He also states, “A final decision will not be taken earlier than in the next four weeks.” He did not mention what products or product category will be made in Sangerhausen by Büchel.
MIFA construction delayed
Initially planned to start mid-January, the construction of the new MIFA factory has not started yet. The 17 million euro investment by MIFA owner Heinrich von Nathusius has been delayed till mid-February. According to the ‘Mitteldeutsche Zeitung’ there are still “issues regarding the purchase of the plot at the industrial site.” Although a permit for excavation works had already been granted, the final construction permit is still pending.
