Thun Proclaims New Mission Statement
ENNEPETAL, Germany – “We believe there’s nothing we can’t improve,” says Alexander Thun of bottom bracket manufacturer Alfred Thun GmbH. “Take our passion for precise processes, best practice and state-of-the-art technology. That’s what drives us.”
The square taper has been the proven feature of Thun’s core product for many years. Today the Germany based factory has a daily output of 50,000 units. Thun produces the bb-sets with square taper for mountain bikes, city/trekking bicycles and children bikes.
“Succeeding our product claim ‘fair and square’ announced last year, we now introduce our next guiding principle stating ‘next challenge please’,” explains Alexander Thun. “It summarizes the essence of our mission statement which describes our ambition to shift boundaries and to look for and master challenges.”

In addition, we provide high level logistics as well as an optimum assembly process for OEM parts. The company is strictly process- and KPI-driven. All operations are in accordance with the SNIC statistical process control and powerful test methods like 3D coordinate measurement technology.”
“We also implemented important Lean-6-Sigma tools like FMEA, KAIZEN and CPK-analysis,” says Alexander Thun. “While our excellent supply management allows us to deal with OEM shortages in a matter of hours.”
